About
About bruneilaws
bruneilaws is a free, private place to work out your situation with Bruneian law. It takes legal text that is published officially but awkwardly, and makes it something you can search, open at the section you need, understand, and keep.
01 ·What this is
A reading and research tool over Brunei’s own legal sources. Every law is open to anyone: no account, no paywall, no trial.
An account is free. It exists so you can keep notebooks, follow laws and ask more questions; nothing behind it is legal text you could not already read signed out.
02 ·What we add
The words of the law are the official publisher’s and are reproduced faithfully. Everything around them is ours:
Structure. Each law is parsed into its real hierarchy, so every section has its own address you can open, link to and cite.
Plain English. Guides for life events and summaries of the sections people read most, each checked against the official text and marked as ours.
Status and history. In-force status, amendments and repeals come from recorded relationships between laws, not guesses.
Provenance. Every page links the source it was taken from and says when its text was last updated.
Machine access. Your AI assistant can read the same law over MCP, so its answers quote the text instead of recalling it.
How each of these is built and checked is set out in the methodology.
03 ·What this is not
Not the official publisher. bruneilaws is not a government body, a court or an official gazette, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. Where the text here and the official source differ, the official source is right.
Not legal advice. Reading a law is not the same as knowing how it applies to you. Nothing here, including an answer from Ask or from a connected AI, is advice. For a matter that affects you, speak to a lawyer.
Not guaranteed current. Law changes, and a consolidation can lag the amendment that changed it. Pages say when their text was last updated so you can judge that yourself.
04 ·Who runs it
bruneilaws is an independent project. It is not run by, funded by or answerable to any government body, court, official publisher or law firm, and none of them has any say in what appears here.
05 ·How it is paid for
Reading is free and stays free. bruneilaws carries no ads, and nobody pays to have a law included, left out, ordered or worded a particular way.
06 ·Corrections
The errors that matter are the ones a reader finds. A missing law, text that does not match the official source, a dead link, a wrong status: report it and it gets fixed. For anything else, see contact.
