Privacy at bruneilaws

You can read every law on bruneilaws without an account. This page says what is collected when you use it, who it reaches, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Draft for reviewThe wording of this page is not final.

01 ·What we collect

If you never sign in. No account, no name, no email address: reading is anonymous. If you ask a question without an account, we keep a count so the allowance of 2 questions every 30 days works.

If you create an account. Your email address and name, and the identifier Google returns if you sign in with Google (never your Google password). Sign-in sessions record the network address and browser of the session, so a session can be recognised and revoked. Tied to your account we keep your notebooks, notes, the laws you follow, your notification choices, and your questions and answers.

What you send us on purpose. A report or a question you write is processed so we can act on it or answer it. Please keep confidential or personal details about your own matter out of these boxes.

Counting use. Our servers count requests in Cloudflare’s own analytics. We send public page paths and interface language to PostHog to understand which pages are useful. Search text, URL queries and fragments, form input and session recordings are not collected. The random visit identifier stays only in memory and resets on a full page load; no analytics cookies or browser storage are used, and no person profile is created. We disable location enrichment and send a placeholder IP address in event data. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable these page counts.

02 ·Cookies and storage

Signing in sets a few cookies that keep you signed in and remember that you did; they last until you sign out or the session ends. If you ask a question without an account, a cookie lets us count it against the allowance of 2 questions every 30 days, and Cloudflare Turnstile may check that you are a person and not a bot. bruneilaws sets no ad or tracking cookies.

03 ·Ask

Questions you ask are answered by an AI model on Cloudflare (Workers AI, through Cloudflare AI Gateway) with request logging and caching switched off. Cloudflare is the only company that processes your questions; no other AI provider sees them.

04 ·Who your data reaches

We do not sell personal information. The site, its database and its sign-in emails run on Cloudflare, which may process data outside Brunei. Searches are answered by our own law database. We may also disclose information where the law requires us to.

Our page-count service, PostHog, processes these events in the United States. As with any direct browser request, its servers receive connection information. We do not send your name, email address or search text to PostHog.

05 ·How long we keep it

Account data, notebooks and questions are kept until you delete them or ask us to. Sign-in sessions expire on their own.

06 ·Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything tied to it. See contact.

bruneilaws is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

07 ·Contact and changes

For a privacy or data request, see contact. If this policy changes materially, this page changes with it. How the legal text itself is sourced and checked is in the methodology.
