s 112Duty of police to investigate offences

Subject to the provisions of any other written law and to any lawful order or direction given to him in that behalf, every police officer shall investigate any offence the commission of which he has reason to suspect and to take such action as he deems necessary to prevent the repetition or aggravation of any offence:

Provided that the Public Prosecutor may direct that the investigation of such non-seizable offences as may be specified in such direction need not be undertaken by the police but nothing in this Chapter is deemed to preclude any police officer from making such investigation as may be necessary to satis@ himself that the offence is an offence to which such direction relates.
