( 1 ) Subject to paragraph (2), the normal period of probation for Inspectors shall be three years.
The
Chief
Police
Officer may, at his discretion, reduce or extend that period.
Inspectors on probation who fail to pass the ex
amination prescribed in
Police Orders shall be liable to discharge, or to reversion to the rank held before appoint
ment to the Inspectorate.
