An inspector or subordinate police officer may, pend-ing the determin'!tion of an inquiry or of legal or disciplinary proceedings, be interdicted or suspended from the peform-ance of his duty by the Commissioner.

"subordinate police officer" means a police officer of any rank from and including sergeant-major down to and including a constable.
