40. Power to release property seized and to withdraw charges

Notwithstanding anything contained provided in this Act, any forest officer empowered under section 32 to compound forest offences may at any time direct the release of any property seized under section 24 which is not the property of the Government and the withdrawal of any charge made in respect of such property.
